CAPA’s Environmental Sustainability Awards for Excellence in Singapore presented Etihad Airways with the Environmental Sustainability Innovation of the Year award, and Business Traveler USA named it “Best Airline for Sustainability 2022.” In addition to creating operational efficiency, Etihad’s sustainability initiatives have also united industry leaders and built a comprehensive, cross-organizational aviation sustainability program that supports decarbonisation, biodiversity preservation, and waste management.

Etihad Airways was presented with two sustainability awardsThe airline’s most prominent sustainability initiatives include the Greenliner programme, which uses its Boeing 787 Dreamliners as flying test beds, and the Sustainable50 A350-1000, which focuses on Airbus and Rolls Royce. Etihad is collaborating with a range of organizations to reduce its CO2 emissions, including World Energy and SATAVIA to make the “Book and Claim” system for offsets a reality.

A CAPA/Envest Airline Sustainability Rating system ranks and rates each airline’s sustainability performance. As part of the award presented by Business Traveler USA, the airline was also named Best Airline for Sustainability 2022. The prestigious publication created this category to highlight the impressive efforts made by the airline industry to reduce emissions.
